Scan, Design & Make: Digital Dentistry Everyday

The integration of digital tools, such as intraoral scanners (IOS), CAD/CAM systems, and 3D printing, is revolutionizing how dental professionals approach patient care, from diagnosis to treatment planning and restoration fabrication.

 3D digital smile design is considered the starting point of esthetic rehabilitation allowing appropriate decision and patient engagement; this technique involves IOS, face scanners, and mock-ups.

Lately, 3D printing technology has been introduced in dentistry, offering chairside solutions, accuracy, and efficiency. The applications of 3D printing are gaining popularity in daily clinical practice in different specialties, from the fabrication of simple cases to more complex rehabilitation.

  We will discuss the benefits of these innovations, including improved treatment outcomes, faster turnaround times, and increased patient satisfaction, as well as the challenges and considerations involved in adopting a fully digital workflow.

Dr. Salameh is a Professor and Consultant in Prosthodontics, Dental Educator and Digital
Dentistry Specialist, with the ability to direct Clinical Facilities, Research Centers, PhD
projects and innovative ideas. His scope of investigation embraces dental materials,
digital prosthodontics and 3D printing. He directed 13 Doctorate projects for the last 5
years and published more than 80 papers in PUBMED peer reviewed journals, reflecting
his scientific international collaboration with Universities and Academic institutions
where he was affiliated (Lebanese University, University of Pittsburgh, Siena University,
Zurich University, ACTA, Hong Kong University, King Saud University…). As an
innovator in dental education Dr. Salameh created the digital dentistry unit and integrated
digital technology in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a continuous
emphasis in updating the dental curricula to be aligned with the international standards
while working on the accreditation process and new teaching methods.
Dr.Salameh proficiency in clinical prosthodontics integrating latest technologies in
esthetic rehabilitation including face scanning, smile design, 3D printing from laminate
veneers to full mouth rehabilitation on natural teeth and dental implant.
